SafetyMeter

Introducing SafetyMeter, Phonak's exclusive noise attenuation testing and control system.

Phonak SafetyMeter

Every certified form of hearing protection, such as Serenity, includes a published attenuation (sound damping) value.

Whether SNR, NRR or any other rating (these are country-dependent), such statistics have one thing in common: they are based on average figures. These figures are calculated by measuring several users wearing the same type of protection. Therefore standard deviations exist from individual user to individual user.

The amount of attenuation an individual receives from his or her hearing protection is called that user's Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR). This rating depends upon:
- The protection itself (its shape, material and production quality)
- Its fit (how well the user can insert and position the protection in the ear)

Phonak's SafetyMeter noise attenuation testing system controls and documents the actual attenuation performance of an individual user’s in-the-ear hearing protection.

Features & benefits:

- Personal Validation: every Serenity protection product can be professionally validated using SafetyMeter.
The resulting output is a Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR)
- Training: SafetyMeter can be used to aid hearing protection training, as the process of attenuation testing
involves showing workers exactly how to insert and remove their protection products from the ear. This
training takes less than 10 minutes per user and ensures proper product use and performance
- Cost Savings: accurate hearing protection means fewer recordable events and thus reduced compensation
  costs
